The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
